5 Questions With… Alan Osetek

Alan Osetek is the President of Resolution — one of the largest digital marketing companies in the world. He works out of the firm’s headquarters in Chicago and is responsible for overseeing Resolution’s global expansion.

Question 1: In fewer than 50 words, how do you define ‘digital strategy’?

“Digital strategy is the process of identifying optimal web-based — digital — initiatives for a corporation to drive the greatest business return. To be successful, digital strategy must align with a company’s goal and the goal should reflect the mission, vision and values the company has to offer.”

Question 2: As the top executive at a digital company, what keeps you up at night?

“Figuring out how to keep our employees professionally satisfied. Resolution is a service company, and our success starts and ends with talent. Our professionals have options — they know that, and we know that, and so we need to make Resolution a great place to work.”

Question 3: What kind of mobile device do you have, and what are your three favorite apps?

Device: Samsung Galaxy Note II

Apps: Weather.com, Google Voice and Google Navigation.

“I use Google voice recognition for email and texting all throughout the day, and Google Navigation gets me everywhere whether I’m driving or walking.”

Question 4: Why should people care about Resolution?

“We are responsible for more search advertising activity than any other company on the planet. That’s not hyperbole – it’s a fact.”

Question 5: Let’s say you have a son or daughter who is graduating college this year — what part of the digital industry would you direct him to?

“Mobile. Like it or not, it’s going to overcome us soon. There are still two billion people in the world who have never had access to the internet, but who will soon through mobile devices.”
